Spring Updates
Good Afternoon – Below are updates regarding the opening of the campground for the season. My apologies for the length but there is a lot of information to convey.
Water On
Underground piping is still frozen in some areas of the campground. We will keep checking and will email everyone when the water is on. Water is turned on to the showerhouse and the hot water heater is fixed.
Garbage Service
Garbage service resumes this Friday, May 1. As a friendly reminder, only normal household waste may be disposed of in the dumpster. A sign posted by the dumpster offers guidance on what our service provider will not accept.
Docks
Docks are scheduled to be installed on May 9th. Volunteer help will be needed, starting around 8:00 AM.
Spring Clean Up
The grounds are in really good shape, so a massive cleanup effort isn’t necessary. Staff will clean up and rake the stray piles of leaves as time permits.
Septic Project
The installation is complete. Septic Check still needs to return to adjust the time delay dosage and plant grass seed.
Pool
Midnight Sun will start up the pool the second week of May, with the target date of being open by Memorial Day Weekend.
Overflow Lot
This will be a work in progress. Once the board members reviewed the project area in person, we concluded that we lost more space than anticipated. Some areas are roped off; please do not enter these areas with vehicles or boat trailers.
Advantage Tree Service will remove most trees on the west side of the lot to open up more space. Work should April 28th. Please refrain from bringing additional items to the campground until this is complete. Unfortunately this does include boats, boat trailers, and additional vehicle parking for guests and visitors. Even once this area is cleared and graded, it will be bare ground until some undergrowth returns. It will be extremely soft and muddy when it rains.
On Sunday afternoon, we moved the boats from the west side of the lot to the east side to create space for the tree company to work
Until further notice, parking is prohibited on the west side of the overflow lot.
Parking
Because the overflow lot currently lacks space, you may temporarily park two vehicles or one vehicle and a boat/boat trailer on your site, as long as it fits within the site boundary. We know that the fishing opener is less than two weeks away. We will get creative to find parking spots, but please understand that space is limited and may not be available. Please have your own backup plan if this happens.
Reconstruction
At the last couple of board meetings we discussed many options and prioritized certain items. We have decided to replace some of the split rail fencing from the entrance gate to the overflow lot and between the bathrooms and the pool/playground area for pedestrian safety and traffic control.
Fencing will also be needed around the new tanks and the septic mounds in the overflow lot. We will solicit bids for chain link fence on the west side of the overflow lot. We are also evaluating fencing options for the areas directly surrounding the new tanks and control boxes by the gate.
To control costs and avoid returning to members for the remainder of the approved assessment, we will incorporate as many of these items as possible into the normal operating budget, potentially spreading their completion over a couple of seasons.
Loan
The loan is still in progress. When we receive the final bill from Septic Check, we will forward it to the bank and the loan should close. Once that happens, we will have final payment numbers for everyone who chose the installment option.
Boat Charging
Once the overflow lot is available, for the 2026 season, there will be no reserved spots and no fee for charging. This will be reevaluated for the 2027 season at a later time.
Pet Registration
Remember to register your pets before bringing them onto the grounds.
Membership Information and Insurance Submission
A handful of people still haven’t submitted this. The association is required to compile the list by state regulation. Those that have not completed this task will get a notification on May 1st, requiring submission by May 10th. Otherwise, a $25 monthly fine will be levied until completed.
As always, please feel free to reach out to the board with questions, concerns, or comments.
