Our History

Hickory Lake Campground is situated on 10 beautiful acres of wooded, gently rolling lakeshore on Hickory Lake, just south of Aitkin, Minnesota and just north of the majestic lake Mille Lacs. A family destination for more than 40 years, Today, Hickory Lake Campground is an ownership cooperative, bringing together individuals and families to share this beautiful property.

Hickory Lake Campground was founded in 1968 as Big K Resort and Campground by the Kleven family, hence the big K in our logo! It has operated continuously as a campground and RV resort.
