Hickory Lake Campground Cooperative Association

Short Update

Docks were pulled out of the lake and water was shut off to the individual sites last weekend. The shower house will remain open for a while yet (weather permitting).

The election for the board seat is underway, all owners should have received an electronic ballot, if you did not receive one please check your spam folder. If you own multiple sites you will receive multiple emails for separate ballots corresponding to the number of sites you own. Voting will remain open until Friday October 26, 2018 at 6:00 PM. There is also a short survey attached to the ballot with some questions regarding possible rule changes that the board will discuss and the board wants your input. All owners will receive an email with a link to the results after the election has ended.

As of last weekend about 1/2 of the leaves have fallen from the trees and it is past peak season for fall colors. Owners are responsible for the removal of fallen leaves from their sites. You may dispose of the leaves at the north end of the overflow lot. Several people worked last weekend to clean up the community areas but it will need more work in the spring.

That’s all for now-Here is hoping for an early Spring!

End of Season

Hello All,
Another season coming to completion; It was definitely a year of transition, learning, and growing; I appreciate your patience, ideas and willingness to jump in where/when needed. Here is what is currently in the works:
1. Fall Shut Down/Clean Up – after further discussion and review of the extended forecast, water to individual sites will be turned off and winterized the weekend of October 13th/14th. The shower house will remain open a bit longer.  Please be sure to winterize your camping unit prior to Oct 13th.
2. Docks will be removed the morning of October 13th; please be sure to have your boat removed from all HLC docks/slips prior to 9:00am that day.We will begin doing some dock prep this coming weekend, Oct 6th and 7th, and are looking for volunteers. If you are willing to help or have questions please see or contact Scott Berge.
3. Fall Raking – we will plan to rake and rid the grounds of as many leaves as possible the weekend of Oct 13th/14th.  If you can assist in any way with any of these first three items, the weekend of Oct 13th/14th (half day, one day or the entire weekend), that would be much appreciated and it makes things go that much quicker and smoother. No need to RSVP, just show up.
4. Open Board Seat – the candidacy forms are in; I will send these in a separate email.  I will send out instructions for voting (hoping to do this by the end of this week).
5. Carolyn is working her tail off to balance our budget and make everything work to avoid additional fees/assessments this season; sounds pretty promising. We will have a proposed 2019 budget send out in November.
6. Rules/Regulations – there were a number of rules that were discussed at the owners meetings this season questioning the possibility of modifications/changes.  I will be sending a number of surveys out to obtain your individual feedback on those various rules. The board will plan to review the feedback and assess the need/desire for changes over the off season.
7. Save the Date – back by popular demand we will have an early season owners meeting again in 2019; plan on memorial weekend.
I think that is all for now! I know there is a lot going on but please consider helping out in any way you can the weekend of Oct 13th/14th. Having owners pitch in to do these things benefits the whole and saves us all money!
Thank you and have a safe fall/winter…stay warm!

Labor Day Weekend

Cardboard Recycling

As of this week, Garrison Disposal will no longer be picking up cardboard at the campground.  Instead, a new container (smaller) has been placed next to the other recycling containers for cardboard use.  BUT…we need everyone’s help in making this one work.  If you have boxes to recycle, please break them down to flat before putting them into the container.
We’re doing a good job in putting a lot of cans, bottles, paper, etc into the recycling container rather than the garbage.  It would be even better if we did more!  Our garbage vendor has let us know that our bill will be going up because of the amount of garbage that we have each week.  I’m guessing that there’s quite a bit of garbage that could be recycled.  All aluminum cans go into one bin.  All glass, plastic containers, office paper, newspaper, steel cans go into another bin.  And then cardboard will have it’s own bin.  Let’s do this, friends!  We save money, and we help the environment…it’s a win-win!
Lastly, if you can help take a load of recycling into town, that would be most helpful!  A few of you have been doing this, but we can always use another volunteer or 2 or 3.

Annual Meeting

Hard to believe it is August already! I hope everyone is enjoying summer; it definitely goes way too fast.
I will put out an agenda at a later date; however, wanted to let you know the Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, September 1st at 10am.
If you have agenda items you want to add, please let me know.

Bobbie

Hickory Lake Rummage Sale-Saturday 7/28

Hello to all!

Hickory Lake will be having a Rummage sale on Saturday 7/28, 9 am-2 pm at the entrance where the picnic tables are located.

If you would like to participate by selling your great stuff you no longer want, let me know.  You will be responsible for your own table (pricing, selling, displaying your goods, etc). Cost is $5/table which will cover the cost of advertising.

There will also be items that are being collected from the store, behind the workshop and Gathering Room for sale to benefit Hickory Lake.  If you have items you would like to donate –you may drop them at the store for storage until the sale.

Any kids want to purchase and sell cold water/soda to make some money?  Just a thought…

Let me know if you have questions, would like to get a table or volunteer to help with this fun event!  You never know what you will find!

P.S. Please pass along to anyone I may have missed, including seasonal folks!
